Organization for Project Implementation

Kyoto University launched the John Mung Program for Students to encourage students to study abroad and conduct research at top-level universities in the world. The boarding board of Kyoto University, including President and Executive Vice-Presidents for Student Affairs and International Affairs, is in charge of making basic policy and framework for this project. Guided by their initiatives, Foreign Student Division in Research and International Affairs Department administers the program.

This program is open for full-time students of Kyoto University, who are either Japanese citizens or permanent residents in Japan. Selection Committee for the John Mung Program for Students is established at each application period to go through two screening processes. The Committee first reviews application documents. At the secondary screening, the committee will conduct interviews with candidates selected from the first screening.

Kyoto University will provide grants to successful candidates after all the screening processes. They are required to take lectures on risk management and medical care before they depart for their designated countries. The office of John Mung program will continue to provide a range of support to successful candidates by keeping close contact with them while they are abroad.
