Oxford University Special Summer School Program

Kyoto University is pleased to announce that Oxford University has agreed to offer a special summer school program for our students.
In this one-month program, students will take intensive English language courses in the morning, including classes on academic writing, oral communication, listening skills and etc. In the afternoon, they can take one of the three special courses bellow taught by Oxford University staff. Students who take this summer program can learn both communication skills and global social issues.

Three special courses offered in 2013

  1. The World through Mass Media
  2. Environmental Challenges of the 21st Century
  3. Society and Culture in Britain Today
Cost
The John Mung Program will cover the cost of the program, including tuition and accommodation. Students are responsible for transportation to and from England, the cost of passports, and health insurance.
Dates
From early August to late September (four weeks in total)
Number of admission
30~45 students per year (33 students were admitted in 2013, and 45 students will be admitted in 2014)
Eligibility
Students must be above a second-year student or graduate student, have Japanese citizenship or permanent residency in Japan, have a high ambition to improve their global leadership capacities, and must demonstrate their English capacities by the following standard tests: IELTS:6.0, TOEFL PBT:550, iBT 80, and TOEIC 750.
Application Period
The application period is now closed. The next application period will start in March, 2014.
